Mindfulness, meditation, finding your bliss… it’s all great stuff and all very popular at the moment, and for good reason. What isn’t so great is sitting silently for ten minutes and telling yourself, “I’m meditating, hooray for me.” Headspace is a helpful tool in combatting this, but it’s important not to overthink meditation, a practice based largely on trying not to think.
If you can find a healthy activity that calms you down and lets you quietly enjoy time spent alone with your own thoughts, meditation or no (could be drawing, going for a walk, etc) make sure to do it on days that you have a lot of studying. If you have a way to recognize your thoughts and not just react to them, you’ll be better off for it.
