August began by celebrating our Berlin arrival with a day of DIY art workshops. Since we’re a space where creativity, community and openness define who we are, it was as surreal as it was highly satisfying to gather influencers from around the world for the love of all things artistic.
They arrived with stories from New York, Moscow, Shanghai and everywhere else in between. Wherever their origin point, everyone enjoyed three nights of fun in Neon Wood’s one-of-a-kind rooms with the highlight bing our DIY art workshops and the DIY fiesta.
Thanks to Melis’ custom fashion workshop, participants learned how to make original streetwear with the insignts of this leading figure from Berlin’s endlessely effervessant fashion scene. The found art co-created with 44 Flavors also ensured everyone had one-of-a-kind accessories.
Besides being the artistic geniuses behind our murals, the art collective Peach Beach knows exactly how to transform the derelict into the dynamic. They showed us all how to make a personal insignia with just the right combo of spray paint and sincerity.
The most energetic of us then even went on produce some insanely melodic tracks with the help of local DJ/producer Michael Tartaris – a hero on the decks among Berlin’s underground.
Lastly, photography startup success story EyeEm (our favorite media partner) lit up our imaginations with a workshop on how to take the perfect photo. They invited the Internet to submit some very unique interpretations on the prompt: “Neon Life.” Over 20,000 submissions later, you can see the mind-boggling results here.
